Do NOT go there!! on May 19, 2024 - Former Employee Mr. in San Francisco City,

Part time 2019 Former Employee

Advice to law firm management:
1. You need to change the leadership styles inside the stores; there’s absolutely no cooperation between associates only commands from management. It’s a a toxic work environment. There is absolutely no team work!!! 2. You need to stop asking associates to open credit cards!!! It’s driving customers away! And it’s creating immense stress on associates because managers are so pushy!!!! Almost all customers have cards anyway and the rest don’t want to hurt their credit scores or were unsatisfied with the Macy’s credit card service because A LOT of them complained that they’d been overcharged/some other complication. 3. You need to eliminate commissions because it only drives wedges between employees and leads to unprofessional behavior in front of customers. And you need to pay your employees better, they’re not slaves!!! 4. You need to be realistic with goals and you need to tell store managers and floor managers to be realistic too. You need to create an accountability program where they report these things back to you so that you’re sure how things are being run not just rely on good intentions that they’ll abide by the goals not try and push everyone like crazy to reach more. It only creates frustration. And you need to fix the online situation! You can’t have offers online encouraging people to buy online and have insane goals for stores to reach when customers aren’t being offered ANY incentives to purchase in stores!!!! It should be the other way around!!! Shopping in stores should offer more incentives unless you don’t care about providing your employees with jobs for the future. 5. You should work on growth inside the company. It’s unreal that a person will spend 20 years sometimes even 40 in the same position and not get promoted!!! That reflects very badly on your company and values. Keep in mind, for some people this job is everything they have and it’s inhuman that their work and sacrifices go unnoticed and unrewarded APPROPRIATELY.

Pros:
I was desperate for a job they have a high turn over because working there sucks so they’re always hiring.

Cons:
Minimum wage working 8 hr shifts where you are NOT allowed to sit at any moment even if the store is empty and there are no customers. Kind of like slavery. Managers manipulate shifts to their benefits and the part timers get the worst of it. There are no clear policies for handling entitled customers and sometimes it felt like therapy sessions when getting paid minimum wage and getting varicose veins from standing up all day!

Partners to Avoid and Why:
Very toxic environment
