- Temporary Paralegal Job Description
'A temporary paralegal is a paralegal who works on a temporary, contract, or project basis. Temporary paralegals are generally skilled paralegals who have enough experience that they can come and go from various jobs. Sometimes they substitute for permanent paralegals who are on vacation or taking a leave of absence. Sometimes they work on projects that take a discrete period of time, such as assisting with a real estate closing or with a federal trial. A temporary paralegal is a perfect position for a paralegal who seeks flexibility with his or her time. Temporary paralegals assist attorneys with all sorts of legal projects, but they cannot actually practice law, because they are not attorneys and have not been admitted to the bars of any state. Temporary paralegals always work under the direction of a practicing attorney.
