The Director of the Career Services Office, Karen K. Klouda, has been with the University of Iowa College of Law for a total of 23 years. Prior to advancing to her current position, she functioned as a counselor and then as the associate director. In the past she worked for the Department of Correctional Services, Sixth Judicial District of Iowa.
As the director, Klouda is responsible for overseeing the office and its operations, providing career counseling services, establishing student programming, and assisting students and graduates in the development of their resumes. She also offers interview preparation services and is heavily involved in employer outreach activities.
Klouda earned her JD from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1987. She holds a BA from the University of Northern Iowa and a BS from Mount Mercy College.
The office’s Career Advisor, Mark Goldfarb, assists students and alumni in developing career goals and establishing effective game-plans to achieve those goals. More specifically, his services cover interviews, networking, resumes, cover letters, and letter writing campaigns.
Before joining the law school, Goldfarb served as an associate at Dechert LLP, where he focused on the regulation of mutual funds and insurance company separate accounts. He also interned at a public interest organization, addressing landlord-tenant legal issues. Prior to that, he clerked with the George Washington University’s General Counsel’s Office.
Goldfarb earned his JD with honors from George Washington University Law School and his BA from the University of Michigan.
The Employment Programs Coordinator, Craig Spitzer, initially joined the University of Iowa College of Law in 1988 and officially joined the Career Services Office the following year. He is responsible for managing all on-campus interview programs, arranging videoconferencing interviews, maintaining the Symplicity CSM Software, and proving programming assistance.
