As the Assistant Dean of the Career Development Office at the University of Missouri (MU) School of Law, Lisa Key is essentially responsible for providing students and graduates with the tools to succeed in the professional world. Key has a hand in all CDO offerings, from counseling to on-campus interviews to internship and externship placements.
Key first joined MU Law in the Columbia area in 1993 as faculty member. She taught courses in the areas of taxation, disability, and family law at the law school until 2003. She received tenure in 1997.
After leaving her teaching position at MU Law, Key established a private practice with a focus on family law in Kansas City. While living in Kansas City, she also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Kansas School of Law where she taught tax courses.
From 2005 until the time that she rejoined MU Law in March of 2011, Key served as a partner at Krigel & Krigel PC, where she continued to concentrate on family law.
Immediately after graduating cum laude from Northwestern School of Law in 1987, Key joined King and Spalding in Atlanta, Georgia. She stayed with the firm for more than two years, during which time she specialized in the areas of business formation, mergers and acquisitions, securities law compliance, and anti-takeover techniques. She then spent almost four years at the boutique firm of Chorey, Taylor & Feil, A Professional Corporation, where she counseled corporate clients on a number of legal matters.
Key rejoined MU Law in March of 2011 as the Assistant Dean of Admissions, Career Development and Student Services.
As a law student, Key was a member of the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology. She holds a bachelor’s degree in social work, with an emphasis on children and families, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
